How to use ElkNut offline (download content for the field)

No cell service where you hunt? Download ElkNut's calls, videos, and maps ahead of time so everything works in airplane mode.

Updated July 6, 2026

Backcountry elk country rarely has cell service — so ElkNut is built to work completely offline once you’ve downloaded your content at home (or anywhere with Wi‑Fi). Do this before you leave the trailhead and your calls, videos, and maps are right there when you need them.

Here’s the quickest way to get set up and prove it works.

1. Open the Offline Content section

From the app, go to your Account menu and open Offline Content. This is the hub for everything you save for the field.

2. On “Full Catalog,” tap Download data & images

At the top of Offline Content, make sure you’re on the Full Catalog tab. Tap Download data & images — this syncs the full library (all the calls, tactics, sequences, and their images) to your phone so the app works with no signal.

Let it finish before moving on. You only need to do this once — run it again any time you want the latest content.

3. Download the individual videos and audio you want

Once the catalog is saved, you can pull down the actual media. Download the specific videos and audio you want to have with you — tap the download arrow on each item, and a checkmark means it’s saved for offline use.

Tip: grab your favorites and anything you plan to study for the hunt. Practice recordings you make are always available offline.

4. Test it — put your phone in Airplane Mode

This is the part that gives you confidence. Turn on Airplane Mode to simulate being out in the field with zero service, then open the app. Your saved calls, videos, and maps should all play and load normally.

If everything works in airplane mode, you’re field‑ready. 🎯

Still stuck? If a download won’t finish or something doesn’t show up offline, make sure you have enough free storage and a stable Wi‑Fi connection while downloading, then try step 2 again. Reach out any time from Support and we’ll get you sorted — let us know if this works for you!
