ElkNut changed from a one-time purchase to a subscription in 2022. Here is what that means for you — starting with the part that matters most.
If you already bought ElkNut, you're a Founder
Owned ElkNut before August 2022? Then everything that was in the app when you bought it stays yours, for good — no subscription, nothing to renew — and your profile wears the Founder ring. Sign in, openAccount — if we can recognize your purchase you'll see You owned the original ElkNut there, and one tap turns it on. If not, send us your receipt and we'll set it up by hand. PRO is everything we have built since: the newer library, unlimited AI Call Coach, Apple TV and the PRO tools — and a Founder who subscribes is aFounder Pro.

I bought ElkNut as a one-time purchase. Do I have to pay a subscription now?
No. If you owned ElkNut before it moved to subscriptions in August 2022, you are a Founder: everything that was in the app when you bought it — every call, sequence and tactic in the original library — stays yours for good, with no subscription, and you get a Founder badge and ring on your profile. PRO is everything built since: the newer sequences and tactics, unlimited AI Call Coach scoring, Apple TV, offline maps and the PRO tools. The app recognizes your purchase from the App Store receipt (which follows your Apple ID to a new phone) or from our purchase-service records of the original app. Sign in, open Account, and if your account qualifies you will see "You owned the original ElkNut" — one tap turns it on. If you do not see it and you bought on Android, or on an Apple ID you no longer use, send us your receipt and we will set it up by hand.
Why did ElkNut move to a subscription?
An app update in 2022 changed ElkNut from a one-time purchase to a subscription. We are a small company, and keeping the app going — adding new calls and tactics, paying to host the audio and video, and keeping everything working on each new phone and OS release — is ongoing work that a single payment years ago cannot cover. Moving to a subscription is what lets us keep building instead of leaving the app to go stale. We genuinely appreciate everyone who has stuck with us.
So what exactly am I paying for with a subscription?
Everything built since the change: the newer premium sequences and tactics, unlimited AI Call Coach scoring, Apple TV, offline maps with bulk downloads and the PRO field tools. Founders keep the original library without subscribing; a Founder who subscribes is a Founder Pro and gets all of it, plus the badge that says so.
Why do I need to create a login for content I already paid for?
The original purchase was a store receipt tied to one device. An account is what lets us recognize you, carry your Founder access to a new phone, and keep your favorites, recordings, and tool data in sync. Creating one is free and takes a moment — you do not need to enter payment details.
What happens if I never subscribe?
Nothing changes. Founders keep the original library; everyone keeps the parts of ElkNut that are free — practice recording, a large set of free calls and tactics, and the free field tools. You will not be charged, and we will not take anything away.
I signed in, but content I paid for looks locked. What should I do?
First update to the latest ElkNut (4.0.9 or later) and open Account — if we can recognize your purchase you will see "You owned the original ElkNut" there. If you don't see it, write to us with your receipt: we set Founder up by hand and put 90 days of full PRO on your account straight away so you can try everything. We check the App Store receipt, our RevenueCat history and your account's age, and most claims unlock immediately. If we cannot confirm it automatically the app opens a request for you — reply there with the email on your account and roughly when you bought it. Google Play cannot tell us who bought the original app, so on Android we may ask for your Play receipt email (subject "Your Google Play Order Receipt").
I already subscribe, and I bought the original app. What changes for me?
Only the badge. You are a Founder Pro: the ring on your profile picture gets a star, and your subscription and everything it unlocks are exactly as they were — nothing is added to or taken from your bill. If you ever pause your subscription you keep Founder access, the original library and the ring; you never drop to Free. Thank you — you are the reason there is still an app.
I never claimed anything, but my profile shows a Founder ring. Why?
We could confirm from the App Store receipt or our purchase-service records that your account was on the original ElkNut, so we switched Founder access on for you rather than make you ask. Nothing else about your account changed. If you would rather not carry the badge, tell us and we will remove it.
I already paid for ElkNut once. Shouldn't the new features be free?
Your original purchase bought the original ElkNut, and you still have every bit of it — that is exactly what Founder access guarantees. Everything in PRO was built after that purchase: the newer sequences and tactics, the AI Call Coach (which costs us every time it runs), Apple TV, offline maps and the field tools, plus the hosting and the work of keeping the app running on each new phone and OS. None of it existed when you bought the app, and a one-time payment from years ago cannot carry it. So PRO is the same subscription for everyone, Founders included — the difference is the star on your ring, which says you were here first and you are keeping it going. If you would rather not subscribe, nothing you bought goes away.
Founder, Founder Pro, PRO — what is the difference?
Founder is a thank-you to people who bought the original app: the original library stays yours with no subscription and no expiry, and your profile carries the Founder badge. Founder Pro is a Founder who subscribes — you get everything built since 2022 (the newer library, unlimited AI Call Coach, Apple TV, the PRO tools) and a star on your badge. It is the same subscription everyone pays; the badge is the difference, and it is how the app keeps going.
