ElkNut changed from a one-time purchase to a subscription in 2022. Here is what that means for you — starting with the part that matters most.

If you already bought ElkNut, you keep it

The content that was in the app when you purchased it does not require a subscription. Only content added after the change does. You will need a free login so that access follows your account rather than one device — but nothing you already paid for was taken away.

I bought ElkNut as a one-time purchase. Do I have to pay a subscription now?

No. The content that was in the app when you bought it does not require a subscription — it is still yours. Only content added to the app after the change requires a subscription. The one thing we do need you to do is create a free login, so that access can follow your account instead of a single device.

Why did ElkNut move to a subscription?

An app update in 2022 changed ElkNut from a one-time purchase to a subscription. We are a small company, and keeping the app going — adding new calls and tactics, paying to host the audio and video, and keeping everything working on each new phone and OS release — is ongoing work that a single payment years ago cannot cover. Moving to a subscription is what lets us keep building instead of leaving the app to go stale. We genuinely appreciate everyone who has stuck with us.

So what exactly am I paying for with a subscription?

Everything added since the change. That includes the newer premium library, the AI Call Coach, the advanced field tools, and offline maps with bulk downloads. Your original content sits alongside all of it, unlocked, whether or not you subscribe.

Why do I need to create a login for content I already paid for?

The original purchase was a store receipt tied to one device. An account is what lets us recognize you, carry your access to a new phone, and keep your favorites, recordings, and tool data in sync. Creating one is free and takes a moment — you do not need to enter payment details.

What happens if I never subscribe?

Nothing changes for what you already had. You keep the original content, along with the parts of ElkNut that are free for everyone — practice recording, a large set of free calls and tactics, and the free field tools. You will not be charged, and we will not take anything away.

I signed in, but content I paid for looks locked. What should I do?

Please get in touch and we will sort it out. Send us the email address on your account and roughly when you first bought the app, and we will check what your account should have access to and fix it from our side.
